God’s Steadfast Love
The book of numbers is a testimony of God’s steadfast love for his people. Despite their rebellious nature and complaints, God still provides for the Israelites, but this provision does not come without consequences, both good and bad.
In this week’s reading we saw how Moses struck a rock and water flowed from it to quench the thirst of the Israelites. However, Moses was instructed merely to speak to the rock, not to hit it. Because of his incomplete obedience, God forbid Moses from being able to enter the promised land. Have you ever ignored a calling that you felt God place on your heart?
While Moses may not have followed God’s instructions exactly, water still flowed from the rock. Despite their disobedience, God still provided for his people. Has there ever been a time where you experienced God’s mercy?
We also read about Joshua and Caleb, the only two spies who brought back a good report after assessing the promised land. Despite witnessing Giants walk the lands, they were still confident that God would deliver them into the land he had promised them. Because of their obedience, they were the only two of the original Israelites that were allowed to enter the promised land. After our reading, what did God reveal to you this week?
